The Serpent’s Trail – Enhancing Customer Experience
How might we create a nostalgic experience for everyone who enters the Nemesis Club?
A Foundational Understanding of the Nemesis Club

Four heroes and four villains established a secret club where they test each other’s mettle. Ordering a “cobbler” at the Soda Jerk will grant entrance through the false freezer door. Players have one hour to complete award-winning escape rooms and celebrate with a shake afterwards.
Grayson and I found a serious disconnect between the fictional backstory and the lobby of the Nemesis Club.
We had to be told the tale of the founders, since no founders were featured in any of the rooms or the lobby.
Improving the lobby was a major concern for the owners as customers found it to be the low point of the entire experience.
With this, Grayson and I determined presenting the story of the founders through puzzles was the best way to improve lobby engagement and build nostalgia.
Growing Ideas for Customer Engagement

Grayson and I came up with over one hundred ideas inspired by marble runs and interactive wall pieces of science museums.
We graphed these ideas in relation with how well they would do for the club and how good they would be for players.
We picked the best parts of the best ideas and combined them into an interactive wall puzzle.
The Snaking Paths of Different Concepts

Grayson and I explored many different concepts throughout our design process. We developed five new ideas which approached lobby customer engagement from numerous angles. We narrowed these ideas down to three after gathering insightful feedback from other groups.
The Way the Serpent Slithers

It was a serious challenge designing a comprehensive layout with so much wall space in the lobby of the Nemesis Club. We focused on visualizing only one section of the Serpent’s Trail to communicate our intent.
